Hiya, can someone please help me with one of the exam questions, its in Paper E, Qu 6 b)
I realised I had to use s = ut + 1/2 at^2 but from there on, in the mark scheme they start using an equality sign… I don’t understand!

Do you mean inequality sign?
That’s because the ball has to be MORE than 2m above the ground, not exactly 2m.

Find the times when s=2: on the way up and on the way down. It’s > 2m between these two times.

Could someone please help me with Q6 a) of the Jan 07 Mech paper?
I got right down to
Pcos20 = u (30×9.8 – Psin20)
but don’t understand how they have managed to solve P from there in the mark scheme? It looks way too complicated!

Emma,
Multiply out the bracket:
pcos20 = 30*9.8u – uPsin20
Now take uPsin20 over to the other side. You’ll then have two terms containing P as a common factor.
